We are just approaching the 100 game mark for the 2015 MLB season. In the Fantasy Baseball world, some leagues may be coming down to some last minute playoff pushes, while others ares still in the midst of the regular season. Needless to say, many teams are always in need of some offense come this time of year, so here are five bats that can be picked up in most leagues. (Percentage Owned according to Yahoo Sports).
Curtis Granderson – NY Mets (51% owned) .252 BA / 15 HR / 33 RBI
There is no doubt that Mets outfielder Curtis Granderson has carried the load offensively for the team the last month or so. Granderson has been doing a fine job batting in the leadoff position. His on base percentage, especially of late has skyrocketed so if you are in need of a legitimate starting outfield then do not hesitate on picking up Granderson.
Jayson Werth – Washington Nationals (41% owned) .211 BA / 2 HR / 12 RBI
Yes, Jayson Werth’s stats aren’t visually appealing by any means; however, he is just coming back from a significant injury, and should make a big impact in bolstering the Nationals roster. Werth still has lots of power in his game, and if he can manage to stay healthy for the duration of the year, can help the Nats, and many fantasy teams.
Yunel Escobar – Washington Nationals (47% owned) .318 BA / 5 HR / 30 RBI
Another Nationals player makes the list, as utility man Yunel Escobar has recently been on fire. He plays both second base and shortstop, so if your team is in need of some versatility, then Escobar is your guy. Although he won’t hit for much power, he has a very high on base percentage and is a very solid contact hitter.
Chris Young – NY Yankees (10% owned) .263 BA / 12 HR / 33 RBI
Yankees outfielder Chris Young has been on fire lately. Although he’s has not been known for having much of a batting average throughout most of his career, he has significantly improved his on base percentage the last month of the season. If Young can continue to keep up his power and drive in runs like he has been doing of late, then he will make for a steal of a pickup.
Dexter Fowler – Chicago Cubs (47% owned) .244 BA / 10 HR / 27 RBI
Despite a slow start, Cubs outfielder Dexter Fowler has caught fire of late, and has been contributing to the Cubs offense on a daily basis. Fowler is a player who doesn’t possess a lot of power; however, he knows how to get on base and can produce big hits when needed. If he is available in your league, he is definitely worth being picked up.
