2014 Buffalo Sabres Pre-draft/Free Agency Projected Line-up

We haven’t even hit the draft or free agency yet so there will be lots of changes to this projected line-up.  There will be some young players destined to crack the line-up on both offense and defense.  In net, there will be lots of uncertainty as both Neuvirth and Enroth will split time until one goalie starts to pull away from the other.  Here is my Buffalo Sabres pre-draft/free agency projected line-up.

Marcus Foligno — Cody Hodgson — Chris Stewart

Cory Conacher — Tyler Ennis — Drew Stafford

Brian Flynn — Zemgus Girgensons — Johan Larsson

Niclas Deslauriers — Torrey Mitchell — Patrick Kaleta

Tyler Myers—Mark Pysyk

Christian Ehrhoff—Rasmus Ristolainen

Mike Weber—Jamie McBain

Michael Neuvirth

Jhonas Enroth

Tim Murray and Ted Nolan are in no rush to bring up top prospects Mikhail Grigorenko and Joel Armia.  Although both players will be on the bubble to crack the lineup, you will most likely see them start the year in Rochester and continue to develop their games.

On defense, you have the same situation, as guys like Nikita Zadorov and Jake McCabe are on the bubble to make the team; however, will not likely start the season in Buffalo.  Rasmus Ristolainen seemed to have found his offensive game in the AHL this past season.  He is pencilled in as a top 4 Dman, but Murray and Nolan may be tempted to have him start the season in Rochester.

The goalie situation is what is most intriguing.  Both goalies Michael Neuvirth and Jhonas Enroth have showed promise and will most likely split time to begin the season.  Neuvirth may have the upper hand as ha has had more experience with being a number 1 goalie.
